J & H Besta Recall Joyful Slim Herb Supplement

In late July of 2010, the FDA reported in a Safety Alert article that J & H Besta Corporation of New York was informed of a lab analysis revealing an undeclared ingredient in the company’s Joyful Slim Herb Supplement. The ingredient in question is Desmethyl Sibutramine. The article notes, “Sibutramine is an FDA-approved drug used as an appetite suppressant for weight loss.”

Since the FDA has not approved the use of the ingredient in the herbal supplement, the safety of the combination of ingredients remains unknown and untested. Since Sibutramine is known to increase blood pressure and/or pulse rate, the FDA states, consumers who use the herbal supplement could be in danger of substantial cardiovascular risk, especially customers with a history of heart disease or stroke.

The Joyful Slim Herb Supplement is sold as a weight loss product in plastic bottles with 30 pills per bottle in retail stores and through online distributors across the nation. No adverse side effects have been reported to the FDA or J & H Besta in relation to the recalled supplement as of the time of this writing.

The article notes, “J & H Besta Corp. is taking this voluntary action because of the concern for the health and safety of consumers. The company has discontinued distribution of Joyful Slim. It sincerely regrets any inconvenience to our customers.” The FDA Safety Alert advises consumers to stop use of the product and to return all unused portions of it to the company for a full refund.

Report all adverse reactions and side effects related to the supplement to the FDA and J & H Besta directly.
